Peter Hollens & Alaa Wardi Desert Rose (Sting feat. Cheb mami Cover)

♩♫ [Intro] ♩♫ Layli ya layli ya Hadi muda tweela Wana nh’awis ana wa’la ghzalti Wana nh’awis ana wa’la ghzalti Wana nh’awis ana wa’la ghzalti I dream of rain I dream of gardens in the desert sand I wake in vain I dream of love as time runs through my hand I dream of fire Those dreams are tied to a horse that will
never tire And in the flames Her shadows play in the shape of a man’s
desire This desert rose Each of her veils, a secret promise This desert flower No sweet perfume ever tortured me more
than this And as she turns This way she turns in the logic of all my
dreams This fire burns I realize that nothing’s as it seems I dream of rain I dream of gardens in the desert sand I wake in vain I dream of love as time runs through my
hand I dream of rain I lift my gaze to empty skies above I close my eyes This rare perfume is the sweet
intoxication of her love Aman aman aman ♩♫ [Intermezzo] ♩♫ I dream of rain
[Omri feek entiya] I dream of gardens in the desert sand
[Ma gheer entiya] I wake in vain I dream of love as time runs through my
hand [Ma gheer entiya] Sweet desert rose Each of her veils, a secret promise This desert flower No sweet perfume ever tortured me more
than this Sweet desert rose This memory of Eden haunts us all This desert flower This rare perfume, is the sweet
intoxication of the fall Ya lili ah ya leel ♩♫ [outro] ♩♫ Hey Hollens’ family. I really hope you
enjoyed that Sting cover. I have been a huge fan of Sting my entire
life and .. I love that song and so stoked to work with mr. Wardi again. His work is
incredible. I have loved his music for the longest time. So if you haven’t seen him
before, make sure to check out the link at the end of this video and watch his
stuff. Such an honour to do something from this
type of remote long-distance (?) This video obviously couldn’t have been
created without the amazing help of my Patrons over at If you like
to learn more about that, this is the link to that website. Lots of rewards and it’s
a pretty cool community over there so make sure to check that out if you want
to be part of this journey that I am on. Lots of new stuff coming; taking requests
big-time right now for the rest of the year so make sure to leave those down below.
I am going to be screenshotting those if I pick your song, so your name will be at
the end of the videos. Again, love that stuff. You can pick this song up
everywhere. Also I am thinking about doing some how-to videos so if you would like to
learn how I make a living doing what I love please let me know what aspects of that
you would like to know about and hopefully I can teach you. Make sure to check out
the last video Alaa and I did (Jai Ho) right here. So much fun. You can also
check out the entire catalog of my videos right here. Or if you would like to have
a signed cd. I have so many cds, I can send them from my house to your house
right here. And check out Alaa’s stuff right here.
Love you guys. Peace. Subtitles by the community

  1. Marvelous graphics – and awesome music! Thank you for showing us (again) your fantastic range. I think Sting must be proud of what you’ve done.

  2. I been searching this song for a long time, i always had the tune but never figured out the lyrics so i never found out the title till i got curious when i saw this video. Thanks for the lovely video!

  3. OMG unbelievable…. So amazing refreshing late 90s memories of Sting's song 💋💋💋💋
    Keep it up boys

  4. You both brought me back with this cover. Job well done guys. I hope for more flashbacks with you both. More 90's and…80's perhaps? 🙂 🙂 My favorite eras. I reacted to this too.

  6. Peter, thank you SO MUCH for another collaboration with Alaa. You introduced me to him on Jai Ho, and I immediately subscribed. Your voices work so well together, truly one of the best covers you've done.

  7. I'd like to see the LONG version of Meatloaf's "I'd Do Anything For Love, But I Won't Do That" covered by you and your wife.

  8. This is brilliant! Just found you and your channel. You have such an amazing talent. Thanks for your music

  9. I was so excited to see this on my feed, since Wardi is from my country. You can't imagine how I enjoyed this. Thanks a ton.

  10. اداء علاء وردي جميل جدا افضل من بيتر مقارنة بالاغنية الاصلية .

  11. Oh. My. Holy. Gods. This is FANTASTIC! Easily one of the best you've ever done that I've seen. Now I'm wondering how you'd do with Loreena McKennit's Mummer's Dance…

  12. O. My. Gosh!!!! Incredible. Alaa Wardi, you add so much to this, and Peter, the beauty of this whole production, not just the singing, is breathtaking. I think this song came out on youtube a few months before I discovered the Hollens' music (through Evynne). Just found this tonight, after listening to We Are Free from Gladiator for a day or so and feeling mesmerized. Now this. I ask in abject supplication that you do Remember Me, from Troy. And I deeply pray that your Folk Album goes #1 😀

  13. Every time I hear a Peter Hollens song for the first time my respect for your talent is elevate. Awesome.

  14. love this version! Its one of my favourite songs of Sting – to my opinion your version stands equal to Sting's one

  15. I remember when sting came out with this song. I bought the CD just for this song. Peter, you have done an amazing job on this. I love it as much as the original.

  16. Dear Peter, I am a great admirer of your work. I have been wondering for a while if you could record "More than Words" by Extreme. I would appreciate it a lot. Thanks. Here is the link…..

  17. Amazing song, playing around with closed caption to get a look at more written languages and had Arabic selected for this one.

  18. After listening to this beautiful song again, i would like you to ask that if you like sting would you maybe make a cover of english man in New York or a the Police cover for message in a bottle, every breath you take or every little thing she does is magic ? That would be awesome.

  19. I love languages, and out of all of them I love music the most. It brings us together more than any other regardless of origin and/or culture. The ability to express our feelings for all to understand, which this video visualizes perfectly is one of if not the most powerful tool we have.
Thank you for sharing your gift with the rest of us!

  20. I find this much better than the original! Alaa Wardi's voice gives me shivers, it's ingenious, and Peter Hollen's voice is surprisingly non-opera considering both his and String's habits, much more complex and mysterious. I love it!

  21. Haha, clicked on the video to see how you manage the arabic part… 😀 not disappointed though, fantastic cover!

  22. Sting and Cheb Mami would be proud if they heard this!! (Which I sincerely hope they do!) Well done gentlemen 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

  23. Some time ago this kind of music was normal , when western artists collaborated with others.
I remember when Khalid and others ruled the radio.
    Good old times…..misses it.
